Emmaus Biblical Seminary is on the move. It reminds us of a statement found
in Isaiah 43, “Behold I will do something new, now it will spring forth, will
you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in
the desert. Is. 43:19 As we begin the month of April, I would like to bring you
an update on things happening at EBS.
 We
have had a wonderful group of short-term workers ever since August. This has
resulted in some wonderful progress in the construction of our new facility.
This work has been completed to date: The wall is finished; the foundations for
all eleven buildings have been poured; the septic system for the entire complex
has been finished; the plumbing and electrical connections for all buildings
have been installed; the generator house has been completed and the generators
are operational; the shop is complete and is being used to store construction
materials; two family homes are complete and will now be occupied by the
families of the two construction leaders.; by April 1, the construction of the
two story men’s dorm will be under way.
A NEW DIRECTION - For the past six years, the teaching has been done
largely by visiting professors who come and teach a course for two weeks and
return home. This will not change suddenly, but we are moving in the direction
of change. Our goal is to have a fully Haitian faculty. As you know, there are
no Haitian scholars to call upon to become professors in our seminary. We will
raise our own. Four young men who are finishing their bachelors degree have been
chosen to receive a four year scholarship at Wesley Biblical Seminary in
Jackson, MS. This course will be done largely on line. While they are beginning
their masters program, they will also begin serving as translators and teachers
in a few courses in the seminary curriculum. I would like to introduce you to
four of the first men chosen for the scholarship and eventually to be appointed
as professors in the seminary.
| LUCNER PIERRE – is a fourth year
student who grew up just outside the seminary wall. He is a fourth year
student and one of the top students in his class. He will receive his
Bachelor in Theology degree in May and begin his Masters in Divinity
program in October. Lucner currently serves as librarian for the
Seminary. |

PAUL VILMER – is the 4th of 10
children and did not grow up in a Christian home. He first heard the
Gospel in an open air service. The first to accept Christ in the family,
Paul led all 9 siblings to faith in Christ. Paul is a member of our
fourth year class. He has also been the pastor of a church near the
airport for several years as well as being a full time student in the
seminary. Paul recently led a voodoo witch doctor to accept Christ.
EDNER JOSEPH – did not grow up in a Christian home. The youngest of 11
children, Edner did not live with his father. He was one of the top
students in his class at our seminary where he graduated two years ago.
He excels in languages and has taught the Greek course for two years.

BRIGHTNER CHAVENNE’S – born the third of four children in a
Christian home. His youth was immersed in the church. He got away from
his faith, but returned and was baptized in 1996. He received his BA
degree from a nearby university. He is the pastor of the Emmaus church
across from the radio station. He currently translates and teaches
courses in Bible. We urge you to pray for this step of faith in
providing Haitian faculty for our seminary. Pray that the needs will be
provided and that these men will be strong professors to train their own
people to be soul winners. |

October 2006
In 2000, OMS International
invited Bill to become the interim Director of their Bible School in Vaudreuil,
Haiti. The following year, Bill changed the school to a seminary and instituted
a four year theological curriculum. In May, 2006, the first class of 12
students graduated with a Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) degree. As the 2006-2007
school year began, in September, 2006, there were 62 students enrolled in the
seminary. Prior to the year 2000, this was a bi-vocational school training
young people to be pastors as well as several vocational studies. In 2000, that
changed to an exclusively four year theological curriculum.
This seminary occupies
rented facilities that are in tragic condition and totally inadequate. At the
present time, they are in the midst of constructing a completely new seminary
complex in Saccanville, Haiti which includes eleven
buildings. The wall and two buildings are complete and the foundations for the
remaining nine buildings have been poured. The remaining buildings will be
built by volunteer workers as funds permit.
Bill is unable to live in
Haiti all the time because of his asthma. He is able to be there for at least
four weeks at a time. Because of this, his schedule is usually four weeks in
Haiti and then four weeks home in Colorado. His
schedule includes teaching 12 two week modules each school year. He directs the
seminary and oversees the construction of the totally new facility.
